Open kitchen (living kitchen): heat is shared with the living room. The kitchen radiator needs to do less if the living room radiator is large enough — but cold tiles and external walls in the kitchen corner sometimes need their own heat source.
Separate kitchen: full heat demand must be covered locally. Allow 70–100 watts per m², more with large glazing or poor insulation.

- Not directly beside the fridge — extra heat load on the appliance
